This is the cheat-code cookies and cream: sweetened condensed milk carries the sweetness and the silky body, and instant cookies-and-cream pudding mix does double duty as flavor and stabilizer — its cornstarch binds loose water so the pint spins plush and stays nearly icy-proof. One non-negotiable: the box must say cookies and cream, not vanilla — vanilla pudding plus cookies is our classic recipe, a different pint entirely. The crushed chocolate sandwich cookies stay out of the freeze; they ride in on MIX-IN, one gentle pass, so the chunks survive. Between the condensed milk and the pudding mix, this is the most forgiving pint in the catalog — a great first CREAMi recipe.

Steps
Whisk the whole milk and sweetened condensed milk in a medium bowl until completely uniform — condensed milk is thick and sinks, so whisk until no ribbons remain.
Whisk in the pudding mix and salt for about 60 seconds, until the powder fully hydrates and no lumps remain. Instant pudding thickens fast — move to the next step without waiting.
Whisk in the heavy cream, pour into the CREAMi pint up to the max-fill line — keeping every cookie crumb out — and freeze upright on a level shelf for a full 24 hours.
- Spin: ICE CREAM
Process on ICE CREAM — this stabilized base often comes out nearly smooth on the first pass.
- Spin: RE-SPIN
If the texture is at all crumbly, add 1 tbsp whole milk and RE-SPIN until glossy.
- Spin: MIX-IN
Break or crush the cookies into coarse chunks, dig a well down the center, drop them in, and run MIX-IN exactly once — a second pass grinds the chunks into grey crumb. Serve immediately for maximum crunch.
If it comes out crumbly: respin
If the first spin looks at all crumbly, add 1 tbsp whole milk and RE-SPIN. Between the condensed milk and the cornstarch in the pudding mix, one respin is almost always enough — this base is the hardest in the catalog to make icy.
Still icy after the respin? The icy-fix guide has all seven fixes.
Scaling to your machine
For the 24 oz Deluxe tub (NC501), multiply every ingredient by 1.5 — that's 4 1/2 tbsp pudding mix and 6 cookies — and spin on the Deluxe ICE CREAM setting, with cookies folded in on MIX-IN. On Scoop & Swirl (NC701), spin on ICE CREAM, then use SWIRL to ripple the cookie chunks through.
FAQ
Does it have to be cookies-and-cream pudding mix?
Yes — the pudding mix is the flavor driver here, not just the stabilizer. Vanilla pudding with cookies folded in makes a different (still good) pint, which is what the vanilla pudding-mix recipe covers. For the true cookies-and-cream pint where the base itself tastes like the ice-cream-aisle classic, the box has to say cookies and cream.
When do the cookies go in — before freezing or after the spin?
After, always. Cookies frozen into the base get ground to grey dust by the blade and turn the whole pint concrete-colored. Folded in on MIX-IN after the base is glossy, the chunks stay dark and crisp. Spin first, mix last.
Why use both condensed milk and pudding mix?
They solve different halves of the pint. Condensed milk handles sweetness and silky body — its concentrated milk solids keep the texture rich. The pudding mix's cornstarch binds free water so large ice crystals can't form. Together they make the most forgiving, icy-proof base in the catalog.
Can I use sugar-free pudding mix?
Yes — the cornstarch still stabilizes — but with less sugar the base freezes harder and spins slightly icier. Add 1 tbsp of sugar to compensate and plan on one extra RE-SPIN.
